Harvest Festival 2007
As the sun set, a cool breeze rushed through the trees and caused the leaves to swirl on the ground. But leaves weren't the only things moving around. Servants were checking in at their designated stations with a badge on their chest and a smile on their face. Over 150 volunteers from Calvary Chapel Montebello served and facilitated the over 10,000 guests throughout the course of the fun-filled evening.
Throngs of early-birds waited outside the festival gates eagerly anticipating the overflowing candy, pony rides, 3 jumpers, 9 interactive courses, 11 mechanical rides, and 12 game booths. Game booth participants had the opportunity to redeem their game booth tickets for prizes and additional candy. The evening was filled with laughter and cheering as parents and children alike competed in jousting or silently hoped that their number would be called for the delicious prize at the cakewalk booth.
As the night continued, warm scents of roasted corn and barbeque chicken wafted through the air. Teens patiently waited in line for Wienerschnitzel and kids waited for freshly made Kettlecorn. Live entertainment blared from the amphitheater while families ate and enjoyed each other's company. Pastor Pancho shared a message of redemption and many were able to give their lives to Christ. The entertainment concluded with a hilarious comedic set from our master of ceremonies, Gilbert Esquivel.
The heart and vision for the evening was to provide a safe haven of fun for families at no cost. Through the generous donations from our congregation and support from outside vendors, we were able to share the love of God and bring forth luminous light on a historically dark evening. We encourage you to get involved next year and invite your unsaved loved ones!
