Good Friday 2008
Over 2,000 years ago a man we call Savior died ruthlessly and mercilessly, but endlessly lives for us today. Jesus Christ came to this earth as our propitiation for sin and on Good Friday we remember His life, His legacy, and His painful crucifixion. In His name He took our pain...and for this we gather to collectively to celebrate His goodness.
March 21st, 2008 was like any other Friday in Montebello, except sweet redemption wafted in the air. This divine redemption drew over 800 congregants to gather and worship under the setting sun and rising moon. Pastor Pancho recounted the gruesome death of Jesus Christ in a new and ever-fresh perspective, yet holding on to the historical truths that are painfully hard to acknowledge. God's word preached unabashedly drew 25 people to the realization that Jesus Christ proved His love by bearing the cross and salvation was accepted. These new believers have a home not only in heaven, but at Calvary Chapel Montebello, too.
The night ended with an expected anticipation of the sweet words of Sunday morning, "He has risen. He has risen indeed."
The Greatest Man in History
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Today we honor and serve such a Leader who loves us!
