15th Anniversary Celebration
What started fifteen years ago on a brown, shag carpet in the living room of a Montebello house, has now grown into a bona fide church. 8 adults, 4 children, and a dog comprised the bible study on California Street in Montebello and Pancho would have it no other way. On July 15, 2007 Calvary Chapel Montebello reminisced about living room with brown, shag carpet, the warm, Summer nights at Taylor Ranch, the crowded auditorium at Montebello Intermediate Junior High School, and now the warehouse-turned-church which is home to over 3,500 adults.
The anniversary celebration was filled with faces that reappeared from years passed, but still remained knitted through the love of Christ; children from yesteryear who now have children of their own; and memories that time could not wash away.
To bring in the festivities, there were three live bands, interactive inflatables, and a comedian that had the crowd rolling from start to finish. In true CCM fashion, food flowed like milk and honey from the promise land and spiritual food was served up as Pancho shared about the faithfulness of God. The night concluded with these moving words from Pastor Pancho:
"In fifteen years, I have witnessed God do amazing things at Calvary Chapel Montebello. From the mundane to the miraculous, whether in pain or rejoicing, God has been with all of our steps. I do know, however, that this church is just a building... a converted warehouse. The real church is those that make this building our home, our place of worship, our refuge in time of need. For over a decade, I have learned that our church is not lead by one man, but THE man, Jesus Christ. As we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, may He grant us life to see this church passed into the hands of the next generation."
